The owner of a property has the inherent duty to protect people on their premises from an unreasonable risk of injury or harm.  When the owner does not take the precautions to ensure that their property is reasonably safe, the people on those premises may be left vulnerable to hazards that create conditions where a slip, trip, or fall is likely to occur and cause harm.
